I am half the weight I used to be. This statement means more than just weight loss. This means that I truly know what it is like be on this journey. I was always the bigger girl when I was a pre-teen and then all throughout high school. When I had dance recitals my costumes had to be made by a seamstress because I couldn’t fit in the junior sizes. By the time I finished my first year in college 286 lbs was my heaviest. I could smile on the outside but I knew that on the inside I was not happy with myself.
I did lose 80 lbs by the time I turned 21. Unfortunately I gained it all back. When I decided to try again I promised God that I would never give up. It took me three years and in 2008 I reached my goal weight. I have wavered just like everyone, but the lesson for me was to continue my lifestyle even though I reached my goal.
After dedicating myself to being healthier and active I became a AFAA and Zumba certified fitness instructor. I truly believe that this blessing that I was given was meant to be shared with others. Please visit my various social media pages, where I have before and after pictures and fitness videos
Everyone’s journey is different and there are many bumps in the road…but perseverance is what keeps us going!
